Animal Welfare
Animal Health and Well-Being
Since our beginnings as a family chicken farm in the early 1930’s, Rose Acre Farms has made the health and well-being of our laying hens a top priority. We put considerable resources toward advancing scientific understanding of animal husbandry best practices, and we use this knowledge to increase the health and well-being of our laying hens.
Animal welfare is central to our business, but it is also a foundational value of our company. We believe that good stewardship of resources includes humane and caring treatment of the laying hens in our care. We go above and beyond industry standards and federal guidelines to ensure that all of our breeding flocks, growing layer pullets and laying hens are well cared for. Our management team engages poultry veterinarians, and poultry nutritionists in promoting a healthy hen environment with clean water and a wholesome custom feed, readily available every day for our flocks.
Our farms are United Egg Producer (UEP) Certified under a set of rigorous standards designed to promote the highest scientific levels of hen welfare. All of our team members that interact with our flocks receive training regularly throughout their employment in both animal health and proper handling.
